I've uploaded my bank and credit card transactions. Please turn them into a simple, visual spending report that someone with no finance background can understand at a glance. HOW TO COUNT - Count every dollar once. Credit card purchases count; payments to the credit card don't. Transfers between my own accounts, or with my partner, aren't spending. - Count mortgage repayments once, as they leave my account. Ignore the repayment and interest lines inside the loan account itself. - Refunds reduce the category they came from. - Show investment property costs (land tax, landlord insurance, repairs) as their own category. - Mark one-off costs (anything unusual over $500) so I can see them, and leave them out of the budget targets. - Only use full months that every file covers, and tell me which months you used. - If you're not sure what a transaction is, list it for me to check instead of guessing. THE REPORT 1. The big picture: my average monthly spending, split into my home loan and everything else. 2. My home loan rate (only if a home loan is in my files): show my estimated average rate next to the current market average of 6.1%. If mine is more than 0.25% higher, tell me it's worth looking at refinancing. Otherwise just say my rate is not more than average. Keep this section to those two numbers and one sentence. 3. Where the rest of my money goes: a chart of everything except the home loan by category (groceries, eating out, transport, bills, insurance, health, subscriptions, shopping, entertainment, investment property, other), with one-off costs marked. 4. Month by month: a chart of everything except the home loan by month, with the reason for any spike. 5. Regular charges: every subscription and repeating bill, flagging price rises, duplicates and anything I might have forgotten. 6. Five realistic ways to save, each with a dollar estimate per month and per year. Don't cut essentials like groceries, medical or insurance, but shopping around on price is fine. 7. A simple monthly budget: what I spend now, a target, and the difference. 8. Please check: the transactions you weren't sure about, and any category that looks too low (like groceries or fuel), which may mean I've missed an account or card. At the end, add a short note on how you worked out my home loan rate. Statements usually don't show it, so estimate it: add up the interest charged over at least 3 months, divide by the number of months, multiply by 12, then divide by the loan balance. If I have more than one loan, weight the average by balance. If I have an offset or linked savings account, my rate will look lower than it really is, so say that instead of guessing. FORMAT If you can build an interactive page, make it a dashboard: on a wide screen, put the key numbers across the top and the sections side by side. Let me click a category in section 3 to see its transactions and show just that category in section 4, click a month to show just that month, and tick or untick the savings ideas to update the savings total and budget. On a phone, stack the sections in order. If you can't build an interactive page, use charts and tables instead. Use plain English and whole dollars, with no jargon. This is to help me understand my own spending, not financial advice.
The 6.1% is the average variable home loan rate as at September 2026. AI tools can get things wrong, so check the list at the end of your report. This is general information, not financial advice.
